According to HousingWire, West Capital Lending has brought on mortgage producer Michael Cecero along with a team of thirty-three people who collectively generate approximately three hundred twenty-five million dollars in annual production. This hiring marks a significant expansion of the company's footprint into Franklin, Tennessee, and Columbia, Missouri, while also establishing a new direct-to-consumer operation focused on training and developing loan officers.
Cecero brings substantial experience in the mortgage industry. He started his career in lending at age twenty-one after playing college football, then spent eight years at Veterans United Home Loans where he closed thousands of VA purchase loans. He later moved to loanDepot where he closed nearly fifteen hundred loans in less than four years, and most recently worked in the wholesale channel at E Mortgage Capital where he was known as a top originator and branch leader.
What makes this hire particularly valuable to West Capital Lending is the infrastructure Cecero has built around recruiting and developing new originators. His team includes both experienced loan officers and newer professionals being brought along through his training program. By joining WCL, Cecero's organization now has access to the company's wholesale platform, technology, operational systems, and lender relationships to support this development pipeline.
Cecero cited three main reasons for the move: the quality of people at WCL, the strength of their business processes, and the production capacity the company offers. He noted that while many firms are contracting in the current market environment, West Capital Lending is still growing, and he was particularly impressed by the company's culture where team members are both productive and genuinely engaged in their work.
What I am seeing locally here in the Bay Area and across the East Bay is that consolidation and team movements like this are reshaping how regional mortgage operations function. When experienced producers like Cecero bring entire teams to stronger platforms, it signals confidence in the company's direction and typically means better resources and support will flow to loan originators and their clients.
