Curated News BriefBased on original reporting by HousingWire (October 13, 2026). The summary below is the Journal’s; the local analysis is original commentary by Omar Murillo.

According to HousingWire, Longbridge Financial has promoted Larissa Morrell to vice president of product development. In this expanded role, Morrell will lead product strategy across the company's reverse mortgage and home equity line offerings, working with teams spanning product, technology, operations, compliance and sales to shepherd new products from initial concept all the way through to launch and implementation.

Morrell brings considerable experience to the position, with more than two decades in the mortgage and financial services space. Prior to joining Longbridge in 2022, she spent nearly nine years at Reverse Mortgage Funding where she led sales logistics and development efforts. Earlier in her career, she held leadership and business development positions at MetLife, which gives her a deep well of industry knowledge to draw from.

Since arriving at Longbridge, Morrell has already made meaningful contributions to the company's strategic direction. She played a central role in launching the HELOC For Seniors product and has helped grow the company's proprietary Platinum reverse mortgage portfolio. Beyond those specific products, she has worked to develop tools, processes and sales support programs designed to help loan officers serve this market more effectively.

Longbridge is focused on understanding and serving homeowners aged 55 and older, recognizing this population represents a large and diverse group with varied financial needs and circumstances. The company's leadership noted that Morrell's years of direct experience working with loan officers and borrowers in reverse mortgages has given her valuable insight into what this demographic is looking for and what support loan officers require to serve them well.

What I am seeing locally here in the Bay Area is that more and more of our mature homeowners are exploring their options for accessing home equity in creative ways. The senior demographic isn't sitting still financially, and companies like Longbridge are recognizing there's real opportunity in developing products that fit their actual lives and circumstances. Promotions like Morrell's signal that lenders are getting serious about this market segment, which ultimately means better choices and support for our older clients who own real estate.
