Curated News BriefBased on original reporting by HousingWire (October 21, 2026). The summary below is the Journal’s; the local analysis is original commentary by Omar Murillo.

According to HousingWire, Orion Real Estate Data Exchange has joined forces with HUB International to expand insurance offerings for multiple listing service organizations across the country. This partnership goes beyond Orion's current reach in California, Nevada, and Oregon, bringing professional insurance solutions to MLS groups in other regions who want access to tailored coverage options.

MLS organizations handle a lot of critical responsibilities. They manage member data and property listings, maintain technology systems, and carry governance duties at the board level. Because of these complex operations, they face specific risks that standard insurance programs might not adequately address. HUB's team brings MLS-specific expertise to the table, helping these organizations evaluate what coverage gaps might exist in their current insurance programs.

The types of coverage now available through this partnership include errors and omissions insurance, cyber liability protection, directors and officers coverage, general liability, management liability, workers' compensation, and business insurance for property and equipment. The range reflects the modern challenges that MLS organizations face, from data security threats to litigation risks. HUB will work directly with interested MLS organizations to review their particular risk profiles and build coverage proposals that fit their operations.

What I am seeing locally is that the business of real estate is becoming more complex and regulated every year, and that includes the infrastructure organizations that support our work as brokers. Having MLS organizations with proper, comprehensive insurance coverage ultimately protects all of us in the transaction chain, and it's good to see resources like this becoming more accessible to MLSs across the country.
