Rodland Private Members looks to close AI gap for independent brokerages

The new membership platform will give independent firms access to enterprise-grade artificial intelligence-powered operations.

Curated News BriefBased on original reporting by HousingWire (July 23, 2026). The summary below is the Journal’s; the local analysis is original commentary by Omar Murillo.

According to HousingWire, a new membership platform called Rodland Private Members is launching this fall with the goal of giving independent real estate brokerages access to sophisticated artificial intelligence tools through its RoRo platform. The aim is to help smaller, independent firms compete with the massive national real estate companies while maintaining their own autonomy and independence. This addresses what founder Tim Rodland sees as a real problem in the industry, where independent brokers have traditionally faced a tough choice between staying small or getting absorbed into larger corporate systems.

The RoRo platform was developed by Rodland to solve his own operational headaches at his brokerage and uses AI to streamline how brokers work with real estate data. The system pulls directly from MLS databases and other listing repositories to give agents real-time insights, handles workflow automation, and offers what Rodland calls conversational decision support. This eliminates a lot of the tedious manual work that traditionally eats up agent time, like downloading comparable sales data and plugging numbers into spreadsheets for hours.

Rodland told HousingWire that the real breakthrough came when other brokers started asking him how they could use his system too. That's when he realized the technology could serve a broader mission beyond just his own business. He explained that by freeing agents from administrative tasks, they can spend more time doing what they actually enjoy, which is building relationships with clients rather than being stuck behind a desk doing paperwork.

Some brokers have expressed concerns that adopting centralized AI technology might change their company culture or make their operations feel less personal. Rodland pushes back on that, saying the RoRo platform is designed to work within existing workflows rather than forcing brokerages to completely overhaul how they operate. He emphasized that they're building the system around what brokers are already used to doing, recognizing that people are naturally resistant to major changes.

The membership model works through an annual membership fee plus a per-agent seat charge, with specific pricing details coming soon. The platform is open to independent brokerages across any MLS or database system in the U.S. and Canada. Rodland also stressed that brokerages maintain ownership and privacy of their data and their tech stack, with agents able to access real-time information and connect to private databases they might already maintain.

What I am seeing locally in the Bay Area and East Bay is that independent brokers are constantly telling me they feel squeezed by the big national franchises and their technology advantages. This kind of solution is exactly what many of my broker contacts have been asking about, because it gives them a way to modernize their operations and compete on a more level playing field without having to sell their business or give up their independence. For our sellers and buyers, this matters because a more competitive independent broker market typically means better service and more personalized attention than what they'd get through a massive corporate machine.
