Pineapple Financial rebrands as Pentiv, launches US mortgage broker intelligence platform

The Canadian-based company hired former SoFi executive Usman Maher as it seeks growth in the U.S.

Curated News BriefBased on original reporting by HousingWire (October 15, 2026). The summary below is the Journal’s; the local analysis is original commentary by Omar Murillo.

According to HousingWire, Pineapple Financial has rebranded itself as Pentiv and is launching a new intelligence platform designed specifically for mortgage brokerages. The platform sits on top of whatever systems brokerages already have in place, pulling data together from different tools and creating a single unified record of operations. Rather than trying to replace what brokers are already using, Pentiv is focused on bringing everything into one place so brokers can work more efficiently.

The company is making a significant shift in how it operates. Instead of running traditional brokerage operations, Pentiv is positioning itself as a software and technology provider that charges recurring fees for access to its platform. They'll start by testing everything internally within their own Pineapple brokerage network before opening it up to other independent brokerages. Pentiv is set to begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol PTIV starting in October.

Pentiv has already developed two applications that are being used internally right now. One helps recruiting leaders identify and manage new mortgage professionals, while the other tracks alternative mortgages that are coming up for renewal and helps brokers hold onto existing borrowers. The company plans to use what they learn from running these tools in-house as evidence that the platform works before they start selling access to other brokerages.

The new chief financial officer and strategy officer, Usman Maher, comes from SoFi where he built out financial operations for their consumer platform. In his statement about the company's direction, Maher emphasized that Pentiv believes human relationships and judgment still matter in mortgage lending. The company is positioning its AI tools as something that helps brokers compete better, not something that removes the brokers from the equation entirely.

What I am seeing locally in the Bay Area and throughout the East Bay is that independent brokers are looking for ways to do more with smaller teams while keeping overhead manageable. A platform like this could address a real pain point for the mid-sized brokerages we work with, since most brokers are juggling multiple software systems that don't talk to each other. If Pentiv delivers on making operations smoother without forcing expensive system overhauls, it could find real traction in our market.
